Finca Vista Hermosa is a third generation farm owned by the Martinez family since 1957. The farm is located in northwest Guatemala. Finca Vista Hermosa has received multiple awards for coffee quality in the past decade, including the Exceptional Cup award in Guatemala several times, and an eighth place finish in the prestigious Cup of Excellence® in 2007.

This coffee is a microlot which means that this crop is from a very specify portion of the farm. This coffee is from the Michicoy portion of the farm which is the first part of the farm that the family bought in 1957.

This is a shade grown coffee, which promotes bio-diversification and reduces the need for fertilizers and herbicides. Shade grown coffee also allows over 150 different bird species to live on the farm. The production of a shade grown coffee estate is almost 1/3 of a non-shaded coffee farm.

The shade has a similar effect on coffee as growing coffee at high altitudes. Both of these factors cause a slower maturation of the coffee which results in the production of more sugars and the chemicals responsible for creating a brighter tasting coffee, resulting in a wonderful complexity within the coffee.

The Martinez family employs 20-200 people throughout the year and prides itself in providing medical, dental, eye care, hygiene education, clothing and an improved diet to their employees.
